YMCA Staff Honored with Civilian Life Saving Award

We are incredibly proud to share that staff at the Monroe/Sky Valley Family YMCA have been recognized by Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue with the Civilian Life Saving Award – an honor given for extraordinary assistance in a lifesaving effort before the arrival of first responders.

On March 25, 2026, our team demonstrated exactly what it means to show up for our community. When a Y member experienced a medical emergency, Monroe Y staff acted quickly, providing bystander CPR and playing a critical role in the chain of survival. Thanks to their swift action, this member experienced the best possible outcome.

This recognition is a powerful reminder of why training and preparation matters. Our staff didn’t just know what to do – they did it. Their commitment to learning and preparation, and their readiness to implement emergency processes and procedures in a real moment of need, made all the difference.

Thank you, Monroe/Sky Valley Y team!
