Teachers, Administrators, School Employees, We’re Here To Support You! 

All school district employees in Snohomish County receive: $0 Join Fee and 20% of Membership Fees.

We partner with Renew Active, Silver & Fit, and Silver Sneakers to provide Insurance-Based Memberships.

SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, and Renew Active are Medicare health plans or Medicare Supplement carriers that partner with the YMCA to provide a basic membership to the Y, with access to group exercise classes, exercise equipment, pools, saunas, and all other facility amenities.

Check with your insurance provider or bring your Health Insurance card to the Y to check eligibility if you qualify for this membership.

The YMCA offers a 20% discount to military families on their membership. We also partner with the Military DOD Outreach Initiative

Refunds and Billing

All Y memberships include a 30-day money back guarantee. Members can also initiate a hold on their membership. Learn more about our Membership Hold Policy.

  • Full refund granted if request is made within 30 days of joining the Y
  • No refunds available for months when Y facilities are fully open
  • Refunds may be available due to extenuating circumstances or financial hardship

Your Join Fee may be refunded if a $0 Join Fee promo runs within seven days of joining.

Yes! Schedule a Tour and then we will set you up with a free one week trial membership where you have full access to our YMCA of Snohomish County facilities. 

Or, ask a friend that is already a member of the Y if they have a Guest Pass to share so you can come to the facility with them. You can use complimentary guest passes up to three times in a year. After that,  visit your branch to learn about upcoming promotions.

Several programs are also housed off-site, including our Youth Development Centers and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Nationwide Membership - We want to encourage members to use the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to use a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace, or in another region. Now, full facility/full privilege YMCA members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout the USA, at no extra charge.

Your YMCA of Snohomish County facility membership gives you unlimited access to our six family branch facilities – pools, locker rooms, cardiovascular equipment, weight rooms, group exercise classes, personalized wellness programs, and other spirit/mind/body events.

Additionally, members are invited to participate in other fee-based activities at a discount: healthy living programs, excursions, seminars, sports leagues, swim lessons, personal training, nutritional counseling, and so much more.

Absolutely! Included with every YMCA membership are unlimited guest passes. Simply come in with your guest to use your guest passes. Guests may visit the Y up to three times per calendar year. Guests may also download a free Guest Pass from our website by clicking the Tour & Try button on the right to check out our facility without a member. Guests who are 16 years or older must bring a photo ID to show at the Welcome Center when arriving. A school ID is permitted for 16-18 year old guests.

You may initiate a hold on your membership by contacting us. The duration of a membership hold can range from 1-3 months maximum. No administrative fees will be charged during the membership hold. Membership dues will automatically resume at the end of the membership hold period. You will not have access to Y facilities or discounted programs while on hold. If your membership dues are current, simply submit your request for absence in writing at least 15 days before the abeyance is to take effect. If you have paid for your membership a year in advance, the time held in absence, will be added to the end of the current membership year.

All of our branches have highly trained staff ready to keep your children safe, active, and happy while you get in a workout or enjoy a class.

Refund Policies

  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of any scheduled appointment
  • If you arrive late you will receive the remainder of your scheduled session and forfeit time lost
  • Personal Training appointments that are not rescheduled or cancelled within 24 hours in advance will result in forfeit of that paid appointment
  • Prepaid sessions must be used within 6 months of purchase
  • Personal Training refunds will not be issued for any reason, with the exception of a medical condition (doctor’s note is required)

With your YMCA membership, you have access to a Weight Room Orientation with a trained Wellness Coach. Learn more about Weight Room Orientations

Yes! At the Y, we’re here to help you reach your health and fitness goals. The Weight Room Orientation is one way to get you started on the path to success. Our trained Wellness Center Staff will start you off with a basic workout plan including instructions on how to safely and effectively use our Cardio and Strength equipment.

Yes! We offer over 15 different formats of classes, and you can refer to each formats class description here.

Every class at the Y offers modifications that the instructor can point out. Make sure to let the instructor know before class if you have any limitations due to injury or something else. 

Classes like Senior Cardio Fitness, Chair Yoga, and Forever Fit are intended our senior communities.

Yes! All six of our YMCA of Snohomish County locations offer Kids Zone – drop-in child care service included in a Family Membership at the Y where parents or guardians are able to use the facility freely while getting up to two hours of free child care per day.

Kids Zone hours vary by branch, but many of our group exercise classes are offered intentionally during times that Kids Zone is available for families to use.

Yes! Every month, we offer a monthly incentive challenge for our members to participate in. Depending on the month and challenge, you may even have the opportunity to win prizes!

We also host community events. depending on the time of the year. Stay informed on incentive challenges and community events by following us on Facebook or Instagram

The YMCA provides all equipment required to participate successfully in all Group Exercise classes. We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes early at your first class, so you can meet the instructor and understand what to expect in class.

Bring a water bottle, sweat towel, and suitable workout attire.

We do not require you to sign up for group exercise classes. We do require you to check in to our group exercise classes on the the tablet when you arrive to the studio.

Swim Test Policy

Refunds and Billing

  • Full refund granted if written request made 24 hours prior to first lesson.
  • 50% if written request is made less than 24 hours prior to start of first lesson.
  • No refund available if request is made during or after the first lesson. Even if child does not attend.
  • If lessons are canceled a prorate equal to the number of canceled lessons will be issued to your Y account.
  • Credits, refunds or make up lessons will only be issued if the YMCA has to cancel lessons. 
  • No refunds available for training or meet fees.
  • Swimmers/Families who are cancelling swim team must notify directors by the 15th of the month prior that they want to cancel.

Yes! We offer different swim lesson programs based on age and skill. 

Our swim lessons are built on a progression system so that when a child successfully passes one stage, they may then advance to the next stage we offer.

We also offer Adult/Teen Group Swim Lessons as well as Adaptive Swim Lessons.

Yes! We have a Barracudas swim team for youth to participate in. There are practices as well as swim meets.

We are constantly hiring for Lifeguards, and offer monthly lifeguard trainings.

Refund Policies and Change Forms

For cancellations or transfers, please submit a Camp Change Form at least one month prior to the start of the session. Refunds will be given as a YMCA credit when applicable based on the schedule below. Deposits are non-refundable. We will follow the schedule below related to refunds and credits.

Refund Requested 15 Days Prior to Camp: Deposit is transferrable / 100% of any additional payments issued as account credit.

Refund Requested 14 Days Prior to Camp: Deposit is Forfeited / 0% of Fee is issued as account credit.

FAQ's

Campers attending a licensed camp (Discovery or Monroe Ready, Set, Go!) also require immunizations.

Accepted Immunizations:

  • Immunizations records previously submitted for School-Age Care in the 21-22 school year OR
  • A Certificate of Immunization printed from MyIR, the free Department of Health online tool that enables families to view and print their official immunization records. (Visit wa.myir.net to get started) OR
  • A completed Certificate of Immunization filled out by a parent/guardian AND medical records attached

We offer summer day camps, overnight camp, family camp, and adventure guides. The majority of our camps that we offer run during the summer, but our Family Camp and Adventure Guides run throughout the whole year. 

Y staff members are trained to help children with mild to moderate diverse–abilities. However, our facilities are not adequately staffed to work with children who need significant assistance with personal care, constant one–to–one support, or have great difficulty managing their behavior in a group setting. If your child requires specialized accommodations, please contact your local YMCA family branch.

Site Coordinators are over age 18 and receive 30 hours of STARS-approved certification in Child Growth & Development, Child Guidance, Health, Safety, and Licensing, Professionalism and Communicating with Families. Many School-Age Care Staff have degrees related to their field and or Elementary Teaching Credentials.

Each year School-Age Care staff also receive 10 additional hours in STARS approved training in a variety of topics relevant to their positions.

All staff have first aid and CPR training, state and federal background checks, and regular in-service training. Upon request, staff professional development records are available for review.

The YMCA promotes the consistent care of children with a goal of building long-term, trusting relationships.

The YMCA of Snohomish County strives to meet all Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards. As a result, children in School-Age programs receive daily snacks that not only meet DCYF Licensing Standards but exceed those based on the Institute of Medicine’s Early Childhood Obesity Prevention Policies. All children enrolled in our care are offered snacks with whole grains, fruits and vegetables and other foods low or absent of sugar. Water is always available to children and when milk is served, it is 1% and unflavored. We are committed to offering the healthiest options possible, providing nutritional education, and role-modeling healthy choices.
Children must bring a lunch when attending on non-school days. Food cannot be refrigerated or heated, so please include an ice pack if packing perishables in your child’s lunch.
If you would like to provide alternate food for your child during snack time (such as food from home, or extra food from their packed lunch) for dietary, health, or other reasons please ask for an Individual Food Plan as required by state licensing (WAC 110-301-0190).
Food preferences will be respected, and children are encouraged but never forced to try new foods and to re-try foods that they have previously disliked. Contact site staff if you have concerns about your child’s eating habits. Please inform the Y upon registration if we need to be aware of any specific cultural practices pertaining to meals. Food allergies must be noted on the registration paperwork.

Early Childhood Education FAQs

We serve children 6 weeks – 5 years old (not attending Kindergarten).

Heatherwood Early Childhood Education Center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 AM-6:30 PM.

Our early education programs utilize Creative Curriculum®, a play-based curriculum to build children’s confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills through hands-on, project-based investigations. We also use Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), which is an assessment model used in GOLD follows widely held expectations for children from birth through third grade and enables a whole-child approach to assessment. Color-coded progressions guide teachers toward selecting and adapting activities that support each child’s development and learning, including those with disabilities. Meaningful reports inform classroom practices and individualized instruction. 

We proudly participate in Early Achievers, run by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families. By participating in Early Achievers, early learning professionals are committed to improving quality equitable care so you can feel confident about your childcare choice.

The YMCA maintains required ratio for the State of Washington:

  • 1:4 Infant
  • 1:7 1 year-2.5 years
  • 1:10 2.5 years- 5 years

Lead teachers are over age 18 and receive 30 hours of STARS approved certification in Child Growth & Development, Child Guidance, Health, Safety, and Licensing, Professionalism and Communicating with Parents. Some child care staff have degrees related to their field and or Teaching Credentials. Each year lead teachers also receive 10 additional hours in STARS approved training in a variety of topics relevant to their positions. Child care assistants offer additional support to children.

Registration Information

A Youth membership is included with enrollment in all YMCA child care programs. If you have a Family membership, you will receive a discount of $30 per month off your membership fee. Families who withdraw from enrollment will have the option to continue their membership at the regular price. 

Prior to attending the program, each child must enroll in School-Age Care. The enrollment process consists of completing the online pre-enrollment registration and completion of the WA State required Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS). All forms must be completed before your registration is final. At least two full business days are required to process the registration before enrollment is finalized at which time attendance is permitted.

Depending on your child’s need, additional paperwork and a meeting with a YMCA Director may be required prior to your child’s start to ensure your child can be best accommodated. Failure to share information that identifies your child’s special care, accommodations or supervision needs may jeopardize the placement of or continued participation by your child in the program.

Do you receive Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) subsidy benefits for child care from WA State? Please contact your local Child Care Registrar for special registration instructions.

All families who would like to use full day child care on any non-student or break days must register to attend care. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and is dependent on space available at the program location.

Priority registration for families enrolled in a School-Age Care PLUS plan will open 2 weeks prior to the date of care.
Non school day registration will open to everyone 1 week prior to the day of care.

Participants in our School-Age Care PLUS plans have full day care on non-school days included in their cost of care.

Prior to attending the program, each family must complete a tour and an orientation at Heatherwood and then complete registration at the YMCA. The enrollment process begins with the completion of the Registration packet. Once forms are turned in and approved, they will need to be brought to the YMCA with payment. At least two full business days are required to process the registration before enrollment is finalized, at which time attendance is permitted. Any child that may require special accommodation must also have the appropriate forms completed for individualized care.

Medically verified immunization records must be updated annually per WAC 110-310-0210 and WAC 110-301-0460.

The Department of Health and our licensing agency requires us to collect medically verified immunization records that are updated annually. These records can be submitted in the following formats:

  • A completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) signed by a health care provider. Find the CIS form by visiting doh.wa.gov/SCCI and clicking on the “Certificate of Immunization Status”
  • A CIS filled out by you or another parent/guardian with medical records attached
  • A CIS printed by a health care provider or school from the Washington State Immunization information System
  • A CIS printed from MyIR, a free Department of Health online tool that enables families to view and print their official immunization records themselves. Visit wa.myir.net to get started.

In the event that your child(ren) is placed on a waiting list to either add days to their schedule, or to be enrolled or there is limited space availability, please note that 5 day/week schedules will be given priority when space is limited. One day per week slots are not available at this time.

School-Age care: Your branch registrar will contact you when space becomes available. You will have 48 business hours to hold your spot and for new registrations, you will be required to pay the $50 registration fee.  This fee is non-refundable if you choose to cancel care with us.  Please contact the branch registrar if you are using subsidy for payment.

Early Childhood Education: Once we’ve made the commitment to you that we will have space, we require the $100 registration fee and ½ of your child’s first month of care (which will be credited to your account upon starting). These fees are non-refundable if you should choose to cancel care with us. Please see the director if you are using a subsidy for payment.

Child Care Subsidy, Discounts, and Financial Assistance

Before and After School-Age Care programs and our Early Childhood Education Center are licensed by Washington State DCYF (Dept, of Youth, Children and Families). The YMCA welcomes participants paid through Working Connections Child Care, DCYF, DSHS, or other 3rd party pay options. Find out more here.

How to apply for Child Care subsidy:

  • Families can apply by contacting the Child Care Subsidy Contact Center at 1-844-626-8687 or online at www.WashingtonConnection.org
  • DCYF gathers and reviews information to determine a family’s eligibility.
  • Families will need to provide DCYF with the name and phone number of the child care provider. You do not have to have a provider before applying for child care subsidy.

Sibling Discount – A discount of 10% is given to families with more than one child enrolled in care. This discount is applied to the eldest child in care.

School District Employee-– A parent/guardian that is a School District employee in the State of Washington will be given a 20% discount*.

Active Military – A parent/guardian that is Active Military will be given a 20% discount*.

*If you currently receive Financial Assistance (AFA), we are only able to offer the military/district discount OR financial assistance. If your scholarship amount is higher than 20%, you will remain on scholarship.

The Y believes in helping parents give children the best start possible. Sliding scale financial assistance options are available to families in need because we know nothing is more important than caring for your children.

Payment, Changes, and Refunds

All tuition is due by the 25th of the month prior to receiving care. Methods of accepted payment are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, personal check, money order, bank draft, or cash. Payments can be made through your on-line account or at the Member Service desk of your local YMCA membership facility.

Families have the option to pay in full on the 25th of each month prior to care or split their payments in two on the 10th and 25th prior to care. Failure of parent/guardian to pay monthly fees will result in removal from care.

With a YMCA membership however, you have access to the Youth Development Center, Skate Park, and more.

We also do offer scholarships. Many Youth Leadership programs host fundraising events in order to cover the fees for youth who need scholarships. 

Youth leadership is the practice of teens exercising authority over themselves or others. It is a theory of youth development that helps young people gain skills and knowledge to lead civic engagement, education reform and community organizing activities. Youth leadership also supports the young person in developing self-esteem, confidence, motivation, goals, support networks, and the ability to influence and guide others.

FAQs

Practices are held at local facilities and games are located across Snohomish County.

The coaches are people who sign up and volunteer to coach. Many of our volunteer coaches, are parents of a child who is on the team.

The sports seasons tend to run for about 8-12 weeks that consists of practices and games.

The age range or grade level will differ for each sports program. Throughout the year, we serve youth ages 3-18. 

The sports team are divided by age range or grade level rather than skill level.

We do offer Miracle League sports however. Learn more about Miracle League. 

Contact your Youth Sports Director at your branch to find the best fit for your child.

Yes! The name of the friend just has to be listed when you are registering your child for the sport.

Your child will receive their jersey at or before their first game. 

Practice schedules will be announced 10-14 days before the first practice. 

Game schedules will be finalized during the second week of practice.

You can register for the waitlist. Youth Sports Directors will reach out to you if you get moved off the waitlist.

Priority is given to your child if you have a volunteer to coach.

Volunteering

At the Y, there are many ways to serve your community. To find the opportunity that best fits your passion, your skills, and the community’s need connect with your home YMCA branch to let them know you are interested. Additionally, please submit your volunteer packet.

Start by submitting your volunteer packet. Our staff will contact you 1-2 weeks later with information on trainings and next steps.

Yes! We recognize and celebrate our volunteers multiple times per year through events and awards.

Yes, all personal donations made to the YMCA of Snohomish County are tax-deductible. Individualized receipts are sent automatically after making a gift. Additionally, tax receipts are sent annually.
