New Executive Director Joins the Marysville Family YMCA

MARYSVILLE, WA. October 31, 2025. We are excited to welcome Thomas “Tommy” Speidel as the new Executive Director of the Marysville Family YMCA. Tommy’s first day in-branch will be Monday, November 3—we invite you to stop by, say hello, and help us give him a warm Marysville welcome!

Tommy was a “Y kid” growing up in Richmond, Virginia. At his local YMCA, he learned to play basketball and was coached by his father—an experience that helped shape his life.

He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Science and originally planned to pursue a career as a college athletic director. However, a post-graduation internship in the athletics department at Boston College inspired him to take a different path—one that led to a purpose-driven career with the YMCA.

Tommy’s YMCA journey began in 2003 as a part-time fitness instructor with the YMCA of Greater Richmond. Over time, he advanced through several leadership roles and, in 2009, accepted an Executive Director position with the YMCA of Coastal Georgia. In 2013, he joined the Channel Islands YMCA, where he served for 12 years in multiple capacities, most recently as Regional Executive Director overseeing the Lompoc branch and the association.

Throughout his career, Tommy has demonstrated success in program management, special projects, and financial performance. He is a collaborative, inclusive leader experienced in guiding both volunteer and staff teams. He is also highly regarded for his fundraising expertise, particularly in major gifts, donor relations, and grant writing.

Tommy and his wife, Tricia, have been married for over 16 years. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors—hiking, biking, surfing, and playing music.
