Boeing Awards $100,000 to YMCA of Snohomish County STEM Programs

EVERETT, WA. February 3, 2026 – The YMCA of Snohomish County has been awarded a $100,000 Global Engagement Grant from Boeing to sustain and expand hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs for youth and teens across the county.

This funding builds on an earlier Boeing investment that helped launch the Y’s STEM programs. With time, experience, and community feedback, the Y is now focused on strengthening program quality, making STEM more engaging, more relevant, and better tailored to the needs of local youth.

“This grant allows us to move from starting programs to sustaining and improving them,” said Lauren Hunter, STEM Program Manager, YMCA of Snohomish County. “We’re able to refine what we offer, deepen engagement, and create STEM experiences that kids truly take ownership of.”

With this support, youth gain access to expanded experiences including engineering, 3D printing, robotics, and new possibilities of outdoor education at YMCA Camp Casey.

“At its core, STEM is about critical thinking and problem-solving,” Hunter added. “Those are life skills. When kids dive into projects, make decisions, and see their ideas come to life, they’re building confidence and leadership that lasts far beyond the classroom.”

Boeing’s continued partnership has been foundational to the YMCA’s STEM efforts and reflects a shared commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

“The Y is deeply grateful for Boeing’s continued support,” said Hunter. “Their partnership made our programs possible and continues to allow us to keep expanding STEM opportunities.”
