EVERETT, Wash., June 15, 2006 – As another school year draws to a close, the big question for parents is, “What do I do with the kids this summer?”
With a variety of summer programs for campers ranging in age from kindergarten through high school, the YMCA of Snohomish County provides more than “child’s play” this summer. Exploring the outdoors, visiting exciting places, learning to get along with others, and participating in swimming, singing, hiking, and crafts all add up to a summer full of fun and learning.
And there’s an added bonus. Like all YMCA programs, summer camp is based on four core values – caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Although each camp is unique, all YMCA summer camps provide safe places with caring adults and positive activities.
YMCA summer programs are offered through all five convenient YMCA family branches:

Licensed summer day camp is offered for campers entering kindergarten through sixth grade. Weekly themes and exciting field trips will provide a summer of fun and adventure. Specialty day camps are also offered in the areas of art, horseback riding, and sports. And new this year is a series of half-day specialty camps with a focus on theatre, science, karate, and jump rope activities.
Teen Xtreme and Xtreme Adventures camps are designed specifically for teens for a non-stop summer of fun and excitement. Overnight camping adventures are offered for older campers. These camps provide further challenges with opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, river rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, and outdoor camping.
Parents can register for camp sessions online at www.ymca-snoco.org. All registered campers will receive a free camp T-shirt on the first day of camp. There are still spots available, however register soon as camps are filling up quickly. Financial assistance is available, and the Y accepts DSHS subsidies for licensed camps.
