Minority Achievers Get Connected to a Positive Future. Sponsored by the YMCA of Snohomish County, the Minority Achievers Program (MAP) is a dynamic program designed to motivate and support ethnic minority youth ages 11-19 to have higher education and career goals. Program participants focus on academic achievement by meeting weekly with Adult Achievers (adult volunteers) who provide homework assistance, tutoring, support and encouragement. Adult Achievers also discuss opportunities beyond high school graduation such as college admissions, scholarship information, college tours, job skills training, career workshops, and business tours and internships.
Earth Service Corps
YMCA Earth Service Corps is a service-learning program for teens ready to make a difference in their communities. Grounded on the building blocks of leadership development, environmental education and action, and cross-cultural awareness, this proven program works in diverse communities and allows teens to use their talents, develop new skills and learn more about themselves and their surroundings. Most importantly, young people in Earth Service Corps are recognized as valuable resources who work hand-in-hand with others to solve important issues.
Teen Court
Teens assume all the roles in a real courtroom and preside over real cases involving their peers. Teen Court members argue over and decide the severity of consequences involving minors committing first-time misdemeanor offenses. The decisions made by the Teen Court are final and are recognized by the courts. Students in 9th – 12th grades are trained by real judges and lawyers. Court cases are held at the Denny Youth Center. This is a great experience for students interested in the law profession, and looks impressive on a college application too!
Volunteer
Want to earn volunteer hours and develop leadership skills? Teens 16 years of age and older can volunteer in the following Middle School Programs. Some paperwork is required prior to registration and you may be required to attend training. Contact your local Y teen director for information on opportunities at your branch.

Youth & Government
The YMCA Youth Legislature is designed to develop your skills and increase your understanding of democracy. Organized through the Southeast Family YMCA and local schools, the program begins in September and culminates in a weekend in May in which participants take over the Capital in Olympia.
Youth Leadership
Held in November, the Pacific Region High School Conference is a retreat for high school students that seeks to create a community based on honesty, respect, responsibility, and trust in a co-ed cabin at YMCA Camp Seymour in Gig Harbor, Washington. Living groups go through structured experiences throughout the weekend in which they have a chance to explore and express themselves in an open and trusting environment.
