10-week Cancer Survivor Exercise Program
In partnership with the LIVESTRONG Foundation and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the YMCA of Snohomish County is launching Exercise and Thrive, a 10-week program for members who have completed cancer treatment. This powerful strength and fitness program is designed to help reduce the severity of cancer’s side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes and improve participants’ energy levels and self-esteem.
Exercise and Thrive
Through Exercise and Thrive, survivors will build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve capacity to perform daily activities. Exercise and Thrive may help reduce the severity of cancer's side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes and improve participants' energy levels and self-esteem. The final goal is to help cancer survivors develop their own physical fitness regimens so that they can continue their exercise activities after completing the program.
Who can participate?
Cancer survivors over the age of 21 who:
§ Are at least 30 days out of cancer treatment with no evidence of active disease
§ Have a strong personal desire to improve strength and fitness
§ Will attend the full 10-week program
§ Agree to obtain medical clearance for participation
