Advanced Fitness Yoga

This class will incorporate many powerful moves and transitions to keep the body moving from pose to pose to capture the essence of the body’s strength and stamina. Advanced Fitness Yoga emphasizes non-competitiveness, self-acceptance, and above all respect for each individual’s movement patterns.

 

Advanced Yoga

This class incorporates more advanced postures and begins to introduce yoga participants to more breathing techniques, and relaxation. An emphasis will be placed on form and alignment with lots of hands-on adjustments from the instructor. 

 

Aikido Kokikai

Study nondestructive techniques of avoidance and control that are effective against even the fastest attacks and discover that calmness, relaxation, and timing are your greatest allies in this multi-level martial art class for those who are 7 years of age and older.

 

Beginning Yoga

This class is for individuals who are new to yoga, recovering from injuries or pre/post natal. The main objective of this class is to introduce participants to the concept of yoga with gentle stretching, rhythmic movements and breathing techniques to improve flexibility and reduce stress.

 

Fitness Yoga

This yoga style combines the traditions of yoga along with the principles of exercise for strength and flexibility training.  Many of the classic postures have been modified to allow all levels to participate and keep the tension in the joints to a minimum. The class begins with warm-up postures, moves into standing work, balancing poses, seated and more restorative poses. 

 

Intermediate Yoga

This class follows the Hatha Yoga discipline, which incorporates rhythmic movements synchronized with breathing techniques. Yoga can increase flexibility, reduce stress, and improve strength and posture. A certified instructor teaches yoga.

 

Karate

Learn self-defense and improve coordination, balance, reflexes and self-confidence through mental and physical conditioning.

 

Massage

Create a healthy habit. The YMCA offers the luxury of massage at an affordable cost. 

 

Pilates

Developed in the 1920's by Joseph Pilates, this fitness program focuses on improving strength and flexibility for the total body. This Pilates-mat class combines movement fro Yoga, martial arts and strength training disciplines.  Improve your strength, flexibility and posture in this energizing workout.

 

Tae Kwon Do

This class has youth and adults learning together in an intergenerational setting. Tae Kwon Do is great for conditioning, coordination, balance and flexibility as well as building self-confidence, self-respect and self-discipline. Class format is designed for the beginning, intermediate and advanced student. Note: Advanced status to be determined by instructor. Due to the progressive nature of this class, new participants will be accepted to class the first full week of each month.

 

Water Flow Yoga

The lengthening poses of yoga take naturally to the pool. Exercises blend static and flowing movements. Each movement enhances flexibility and strength along with breathing and body awareness while connecting the mind and body. A creative blend of traditional yoga postures in the water.

 

Yoga Ball

Yoga Ball integrates many different aspects of fitness into a single class. Working with the stability ball increases strength and improves coordination and balance. Combine yoga and also reap the benefits of improved flexibility, and body awareness, as well as a deep sense of relaxation.

 

Yoga for Seniors

Yoga modified to address seniors' health and wellness needs using a chair for balance and stability. Participants will be encouraged to work at their own pace and ability.
