8 Weeks to Wellness

By adopting a healthy lifestyle now, you can significantly reduce your risk for serious health problems, increase your energy level, feel better and live longer. Eight Weeks to Wellness is a health enhancement program that combines education with proactive. In eight weeks you will learn how to: identify and develop a healthy lifestyle, become more physically active, choose meals that are low in saturated fat and cholesterol, protect your health by eating fiber-rich food, achieve and maintain a health weight, recognize and avoid dependencies, cope more effectively with stress and focus on prevention. See your local branch for class times and costs.

 

Get Real: Real Life Weight Management

This program provides a comprehensive approach to the broad problem of weight management. It focuses on self-empowerment, nutrition and physical activity. Clearly not a diet -- but an educational and self-help program that combines essential components for successful long-term weight management.

 

Nutrition Counseling

Meet with our Registered Dietitian one-on-one to discuss your various nutritional concerns. We will design a personal program specific to your lifestyle and needs.

 

Total Health Orientation

Whether you're a new or current member, we encourage you to attend a Total Health Orientation. This 45-minute session includes a self-evaluation survey, a discussion of the components of a healthy lifestyle and an introduction to the Y Total Health program. We'll explore ways to have fun exercising and look at the many different activities available at the YMCA.

 

Wellness Wednesdays

The focus of Wellness Wednesday is to promote a healthy lifestyle through educational resources from within the community. A different topic will be highlighted each month.  Look for more information at your branch Member Services desk.

 

Y Personal Wellness

If you've started a wellness program before and haven't followed through or would like to exercise but are having trouble getting started, then Y Personal Fitness is for you. It's a 12-week program designed to ease you into a fitness program and help you build the commitment to keeping fit. Step-by-step your Total Health coach will help you learn how to combine the cardiovascular exercises with strength training. Your coach will stay in touch with you during the entire 12-week program and help you stay motivated. You'll take away tips and techniques to help you make wellness a life-long habit.
